Course Description

This course is designed for those who are interested in advancing their sewing and garment construction skills. Using the college's industrial equipment, learn how to sew and produce a fully lined, custom fitted notch-collar blazer with pockets. Among the skills you will develop are pattern modification, layout, cutting, construction, styling, and finishing. Wool or similar midweight non-stretch fabric will be used to construct the blazer. Prerequisite(s): SXW 410 or at the discretion of the instructor.

  • Notebook or Phone for note taking 
  • Dressmaker Scissors- 8-10” (Recommended: Fiskers, Gingher, Wiss or Mundial)
  • Dressmaker pins
  • Seam ripper
  • Thread
  • Thread scissors
  • Wooden or Plastic Point Turner (Recommended: Dritz)
  • Pastel stone dressmaker chalk or fabric marker (optional)
  • Clear Graph plastic ruler (Westcott  2x18)

Prerequisite: SXW 410 or at the discretion of the instructor.
