Course Description

This course offers a chronological survey of fashion history, tracing significant developments in both men’s and women’s dress. Emphasis is placed on the cultural, social, and technological influences that have shaped clothing over time. Students will engage in hands-on exploration of historical garments from The Museum at FIT. The course also introduces foundational terminology and classification systems used in the study of fashion history and material culture.
