The program is organized into six comprehensive modules covering essential techniques in garment alterations and fitting. Students will gain foundational hand-sewing skills and progress to advanced custom alterations using specialized sewing machinery. The certificate emphasizes both men’s and women’s alterations and students will acquire a thorough understanding of fabrics and garment construction. Through practical instruction and applied projects, students will learn how to execute professional garment modifications from the initial fitting to the final stitch. They will have the opportunity to network with Nordstrom professionals and through a field trip gain exposure to the world of alterations, preparing them to compete for career-advancing roles in this field.
