Course Description

Learn how to create a pattern of your favorite garment—without taking the garment apart! This is called rubbing off a pattern and is a fashion industry-wide technique. In this course, students will bring in their own garment from home and learn how to make an exact pattern of the garment without removing a single seam. This course is for all levels, beginner to advanced.

Notes

See below for required course supplies. Bring to the 1st class:

  • Dressmaker scissors, 8–10” (Fiskars, Gingher, Wiss, or Mundial are the best)
  • Dressmaker pins
  • Graphite pencil (non-mechanical)
  • Tape measure
  • Clear graph plastic ruler (Westcott 2x18)
  • French curve ruler and hip curve ruler or styling design ruler
  • Notebook for note-taking (phone, tablet, or laptop may also be used)
