Course Description

Senior Learners is designed for mature adults, 60 years of age and older, who are also New York State residents.

Bigger than a barrette, but smaller than a hat, these British-inspired whimsical adornments have become fashion right for celebrity events in the day, or at cocktail hour, no matter the country. This studio workshop introduces you to professional techniques from blocking the shape to finishing and decoration. Learn hand-sewing techniques used in the finest quality millinery and work with decorations such as feathers, flowers, or beads to embellish your creation. Fascinators are often perched at a jaunty, flirty angle and you will learn how to keep your fascinator fastened on a head too.

Notes

Supply kits can be picked up at Manhatco (124 W 30th Street, #302, New York, NY 10001 on Monday-Friday from 10:00 am-5:30 pm) for $20. Mention that you are taking the "FIT fascinator class".

 

Please note: Classes may be canceled due to low enrollment. We recommend that you wait until a week before class starts to purchase supplies. You will be notified by email if cancellations occur. Instructor assignments are subject to change.
