Course Description

This course will take students from concept to creation for one fashion garment. Students will receive an introduction to customer research, business structure, pricing strategies, production options, and promotion and marketing on day one. Students will then select a design and make a mini business plan for how to get it made, sold, and promoted. In class three, we will take a field trip to the garment district - visiting fabric, trim, supply stores, and small production studios. In the remaining classes, students will make their garment and on the final class, present their garment along with their mini business plan. Prerequisite(s): SXW 400 or basic sewing skills
