Course Description

Whether you love to illustrate in the world of reality or fantasy, drawing skills explored in this workshop will help bring your narratives to life and create competitive portfolio pieces. Learn how to combine drawing from observation and reference while utilizing traditional and experimental drawing materials in a variety of projects. Portfolio focused students will be guided on how to organize and prepare their work. This workshop is excellent for students seeking to apply to Art and Design schools.

ELIGIBLE GRADES: High School students entering grades 9 through 12 as of the upcoming Fall semester.


See below for required course supplies.
  • Graphite pencils: 2H, 2B, HB
  • Kneaded eraser
  • Drawing paper bristol pad: 9”x14”
  • Sketchbook: your own personal sketchbook, 8”x10” or smaller (to review with instructor)
  • Watercolor and/or acrylic paints
  • Colored pencils
  • Micron pens (black and colors of your choice)
  • Watercolor brushes / acrylic brushes (student choice of paint medium) small and medium size
  • Cup to hold water for painting
Please note: Classes may be canceled due to low enrollment. We recommend that you wait until a week before class starts to purchase supplies. You will be notified by email if cancellations occur. Instructor assignments are subject to change.
