Course Description

This course will introduce students to the foundational skills of how to bring their footwear and accessory design philosophies to realization. Through instruction on sketching and rendering, pattern making, and industrial machine sewing students will gain design knowledge and hands on skills to execute 2 wearable leather or leather alternative items: a pair of customized sneakers and an original bag. Students will complete the course with 2D and 3D portfolio quality outcomes.

  • Drawing Materials
    • Drawing paper pad 8.5" x  11" (any brand will work)
    • Tracing paper pad 8.5" x  11" (any brand will work)
    • Mechanical pencil (any brand will work)
  • Shoe Materials 
  • Bag Materials
    • We will use upcycled materials and hardware (to be discussed in class)
    • The other materials will be provided by the Footwear and Accessories Department

 

Please note: Classes may be canceled due to low enrollment. We recommend that you wait until a week before class starts to purchase supplies. You will be notified by email if cancellations occur. Instructor assignments are subject to change.
