Course Description

Fashion designers use draping to create patterns for their designs. You will learn pinning and shaping techniques by manipulating muslin on a dress form. **Projects and class schedule may be adjusted to reflect the abilities and pace of the students in course

Notes

See below for the required course supplies.
  • Five yards medium weight muslin
    • The weave of the fabric should be noticeable and slightly open, ideally 58-60in width
  • Dressmaker pins (between 14 and 20 gauge are industry standard)
  • Clear graph plastic ruler (Westcott size 2x18)
  • A Hip Curve Ruler *and* French Curve Ruler  (Alternative is one Style Design Ruler (hip and french in one))
  • Dressmaker scissors- 8-10” (Fiskers, Gingher, Wiss or Mundial)
  • Style tape (adhesive kind or twill tape non-adhesive)
  • Tape measure
  • Notebook
  • Pen and pencils

Please note: Students in this class will work on patterns that can be turned into fully sewn garments at home.
