Course Description

Learn introductory skills to make objects and wood furniture. Begin with information on joinery concepts and wood physics as well as planes, cabinet scrapers, and spoke-shaves. You’ll learn how to safely operate woodworking machinery, including the table saw, band saw, drill press, and miter saw. How to sharpen and maintain hand tools is included. The project for this course is a side table with tapered legs finished to your taste. Gain knowledge on how to work safely and independently.

Notes

First session is mandatory for safety reasons.

Bring to first session: dust mask, safety glasses, tape measure and pencils. All other supplies and materials are included.
Recommended text: Woodworking Basics: Mastering the Essentials of Craftsmanship, by Peter Korn. 
Tuition includes $40 for supplied materials.
