Course Description

Learn the fundamentals of drawing your ideas as a fashion designer would! Start with sketching summer basics, then progress to fall/winter items, and conclude with evening wear designs. Each lesson will be supported with printed images for reference, as well as a discussion of the importance of creating mood board collages to inspire your design process and focus on an aesthetic and muse. There will be step-by-step demonstrations on how to draw a stylized fashion croquis figure and various fashion poses. Fabric rendering will be demonstrated using a combination of markers and colored pencils to render a range of fabrics, prints, and textures to depict the many fashion styles that change with the seasons.

Notes

Have for first session: a 14” x 17” semitransparent marker pad; 4H drawing pencil; assorted double-tipped Prismacolor brand magic markers; Prismacolor brand colored pencils; Xtra-fine and medium-tipped black Sharpie brand markers; folder with favorite magazine images to draw from: poses, faces, clothing and accessories; fabric swatches to render in your designs; and any previous fashion artwork for a critique.
