Course Description
With a simple but flexible pattern, you'll learn how to sew and create a wearable garment with the most fundamental of skills. Learn to work on industrial sewing machines that allow you to reproduce these easy-to-learn techniques anywhere. Projects include pants and an optional top using patterns that you can evolve into new silhouettes and styles. This course is a great introduction to sewing, finishing, and fit. No experience required.Notes

- Dressmaker scissors: 8"-10” (Fiskers, Gingher, Wiss, or Mundial are the best)
- Seam ripper
- Dressmaker pins
- Thread
- Notebook
- Pencils
- Pinking shears (Fiskers, Gingher, Wiss, or Mundial are the best)
- Tape measure
- Large safety pin
- Clear graph plastic ruler (Westcott size 1x12, 2x12, 1x18, or 2x18)
- Thimble to fit middle finger (optional)
- Hand sewing needles (Sharp size 7-9 is best, optional)
- Pastel stone dressmaker chalk or fabric marking pencil/pen (optional)
FABRIC
FIT will provide muslin for practice
Students will need to bring fabric for their final pant and top project but we will go over what types are best and how much yardage once class begins, you will also purchase elastic.
OPTIONAL: Students can bring additional trims and embellishments to enhance their garments if they wish
Please note: Classes may be canceled due to low enrollment. We recommend that you wait until a week before class starts to purchase supplies. You will be notified by email if cancellations occur. Instructor assignments are subject to change.
