Course Description

Using the college's industrial equipment, learn how to create and/or alter, and grade a pattern up for plus size customers. This intermediate course focuses on the reality of the majority of customers in the United States. It includes a brief overview of customers, research, clothing size and measurement data, size chart creation, and marketing. We then move on to design, pattern making, layout, cutting, construction, and finishing of a garment. Students will have a chance to work with a plus size fit model for this course - halfway through, trying on a muslin, and on the final day for presentation.

Notes

This is an intermediate course. Prior sewing knowledge is highly recommended. Prior draping and/or pattern making knowledge is also recommended. Suggested courses to take before this course: SXW400, SXP175, and/or SXP190.
